Panera Bread strives to support community programs that reflect our core values and serve as a vehicle for outreach and support. In the Houston metro area, we work with Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital and other Non Profit Organizations in giving back to our community.

Operation Dough-Nation Programs

Since our founding, Rolling Dough, Ltd. and Panera Bread have been active in our communities. Operation Dough-Nation was founded in 1992 to formalize our commitment to community involvement. Since then, it has grown to include four major activities: Community Breadbox™ cash collection boxes, the Day-End Dough-Nation™ program, fundraising opportunities and participation in community events.

Community Breadbox

The Community Breadbox program ensures that donations made at Panera Bread feed back in to the community. A portion of cash donations made by customers in bakery-cafes are matched by Rolling Dough, Ltd. and distributed to our Operation Dough-Nation recipient, Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital. Contributions generated through the program will assist Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital serving the needs of young children in our community. If you'd like to contribute to our efforts to assist local charitable organizations in the communities we serve, please look for the Community Breadbox collection containers at participating Panera Bread® bakery-cafes.

All Houston area Panera Bread locations donate an average of $20,000 a year to Children's Memorial in The Medical Center to help raise money for their Pediatric Emergency Rooms.

Day-End Dough-Nation

Through the Day-End Dough-Nation program, unsold bakery products are packaged at the end of each day and donated to local food banks and charities. Over the past few years, we have donated more than $12 million nationwide worth of bread products to non-profits served by America's Second Harvest, the nation's largest domestic hunger-relief organization.

Each year all Houston Area Panera Bread locations support this great organization to help fight Breast Cancer. We have raised close to $15,000 this year for The Network of Strength. On Mothers Day 2010 Panera was at the walk to show their support by supplying Coffee, Bagels and Pastries to all the walkers.
